Dr. Susanne Stieger-Vanegas, Mag. med. vet., Dr. med. vet., Ph.D., Dipl. ECVDI

Dr. Stieger-Vanegas received her veterinary degree from the University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna, Austria in 1995, then worked part time as a practitioner in a small animal clinic in Vienna before completing a gallbladder disease in dogs doctoral thesis. She then completed a combined diagnostic imaging residency at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna, Austria and the Vetsuisse Faculty, University of Zurich, Switzerland in 2001. Following her residency, she worked as a lecturer at the College of Veterinary Medicine at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Uppsala, Sweden. From 2003 to 2007 she completed a PhD focused on ultrasound imaging of tumor angiogenesis using ultrasound to enhance the vascular permeability in tumors at the Department of Surgical and Radiological Sciences at the College of Veterinary Medicine and in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of California, Davis.

Dr. Stieger-Vanegas is a Full Professor of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging at the Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine at Oregon State University in Corvallis, USA. She has published in peer-reviewed journals, written several book chapters focused on imaging, and lectured both nationally and internationally. She trains residents, performs clinical research, and teaches veterinary students. She is the recipient of the Camden endowed Professor in Radiology. Her clinical research interests include cancer imaging, thoracic and abdominal CT imaging in small animals and New World camelids. Outside of the veterinary world, Susanne enjoys spending time outside, especially in the mountains, including skiing and hiking.
